Wingdings

I helped my Sister move the last of the big stuff out of her apartment yesterday.  And since it was Tuesday and she was dying to have all-you-can-eat wings at Quaker Steak and Lube, we decided to head over there.  We got there around 8pm and it was packed!  We had to wait almost 30 minutes to get in.  Crazy!  The wings were pretty good and it allowed you to try different flavors which rocked.  For the finale we tried an order of Suicide wings.  These are 30,000SHU which is pretty darn hot (a jalapeno is between 2,500 and 10,000 SHU).  Malissa touched it to her tongue and tossed it down in agony.  James and I just ate ours.  We both were like…its pretty hot but I thought it would be hotter.  Then about 2 minutes go by and I’m like ‘OMG, I my tongue is numb’  It was hot.  My mouth and lips burned for about 10 minutes.  I can only imagine what the Atomic wings (120,000SHU) feel like.  I didn’t feel like signing the waiver to try them either…lol.

Windows Live toolbar…my take

Filed under: Misc — Charlie at 10:46 am on Monday, August 28, 2006

When I downloaded Microsofts new Windows Live Writer (What Im using right now to make this post) It came bundled with the new Windows Live Toolbar.  I usually hate when applications do that, but this time I felt a little intrigued by it.  So I said what the heck and installed it along with all its components.  Microsoft really wrapped a lot of stuff into the toolbar.  The coolest one was tabs for IE users without having to get IE7.  It also added most of the things that the google toolbar now has, like global bookmarks, search bar, popup blocker etc.

So I decided to fire IE up and check it out.  Double click IE, wait, wait some more, get something to drink, eat lunch….nothing.  It killed my IE.  I couldnt even start up IE to try it out.  I did eventually get it working after removing olfolio (one of the free components wrapped into the toolbar), but even then I had problems with it freezing when I closed IE.  There are a lot of cool things but its beta-ness shined through.  Maybe it was because I still had Google toolbar installed, I dont know, but I will still be waiting for a finished product so I can really try it out next time.

Moving along….

Well its been awhile.  So many things have happened.  Mostly I have been stuck at work these days.  Right now I am doing 2 peoples jobs while we hire someone else and it is coming upon the busiest time of the year.  This week I am actually doing 3 jobs as my boss is away on a fishing trip.  Crazy times here.  Not only that but I have to have my office moved downstairs ASAP.  Busy busy!

I have been working on the shed a ton lately too.  Between work and the shed Im pretty sure I dont do anything in the house besides use the bathroom and sleep.  The good thing is that the shed is nearing its completion.  The trusses are all up and im working on putting the plywood down.  The shingles should be a short project as I purchased a bostitch roofing nailer off of ebay.  It was a little expensive, but I figure in my lifetime I will get some good use out of it.  I plan on buying the vinyl siding attachment for it, so then I can get even more use from it.

Last friday I went to the basement to get some clothes out of the dryer and found a water leak on the bypass valve for the water softener.  Its been in the bypass position for weeks now, and of course because I removed the old non-functional softener a week before it had to leak.  Good thing I had already purchased a new softener a few weeks ago just waiting for me to have some free time.  I made a stop to menards and got all the fittings and pipe I needed and got that done.  Now we have soft water again for the first time since we owned the house.

Last week Thursday my webserver and the game server I run both lost their harddrive information.  The only thing I can figure is there must have been a power surge as they both died at the same time.  I have most services back up and running now and am looking to purchase a raid 5 card and raptor harddrives for it.  I also have acquired an LTO drive to do backups to.  I was lucky this time, but Im not taking any chances from now on.

Other than that, Good Neighbor Fest is in Middleton this weekend, Im sure I will be spending a lot of time there.  I usually do.  I help Mandi out with the Key Club Sub Stand.  Its good times ;)

Mini Bowling and internet…yay!

Two weekends ago we took a trip to milwaukee.  We met up with Amanda and went Mini-Bowling.  Yes thats right, mini-bowling.  We were all a little skeptical at first, but after the first roll of the ball down the lane, we were hooked.  Imagine a bowling lane shrunk down to 16′.  The lane is narrower and the balls are smaller (around the size of a shot-put).  There is a guy in the back to setup your pins.  It was a blast!  Busy place too as its part of a bar (Koz’s Mini-bowling is were we went).  If you ever have the chance I would highly recommend it!

Last week pretty much sucked.  Our internet was out almost all week and I was super busy at work.  That means I didnt get hardly anything accomplished.  I had a hard time responding to emails even.  Charter will be back out at some point to burry a new line to our house.  Yippie =/

I went to jjobandcamp yesterday with my sister, James and Liz.  It was pretty fun.  We didnt really “See” any bands, we ended up just people watching and drinking.  Tried out Tilt and B^e.  Tilt was definately different, but good.  Didnt like the new bud energy beer though.  Glad I didnt pay for the tickets or I would be upset.

Also, we ordered our tickets for the blue man group when they come in October.  Should be an awesome show.  I loved them the first time I saw them in Vegas.  Good times =D
