Theres no place like home…

Well the Chicago trip was fun…but tiring.  We stayed at the Hilton on S. Michigan ave.  It was actually a pretty sweet location as we were able to walk everywhere we went.  It was about mile or a little more to the “museum campus.”  Thats where we spent most of our time.  It was also about the same distance to the shopping areas/Theatre district where we went to see the muscial “Wicked”

In the Musuem campus we went to the Shedd Aquarium on Saturday because the Tut exhibit was sold out.  That was pretty sweet.  We saw a lot of cool stuff and learned some neat stuff too.  Like the answer to the question I had, “How do Dolphins and Whales sleep?”  Its a good question because they breath through their blowholes.  Well apparently they can sleep one side of their brain at a time, and when that one is rested they sleep the other side.  They still move, etc while they do this…they just move very slow.  Pretty cool.

Saturday Night we went to see Wicked.  It was a pretty good story.  It was more musical than I liked (I prefer plays better), but it was still good.  Definately worth watching if you have the chance.  The thing I was most impressed about was the set.  It was simple incredible.  You can tell they put time and money into it.  They had live scene changes and everything.  Good stuff.

Sunday after we checked out of the hotel and had breakfast we went to the Tut exhibit at the Field Museum.  It was so crowded even with the limited entry.  It was neat…definately worth seeing once.  The only bummer was there were no actual mummies in the exhibit.  For that we had to go into the field museum to their normal egypt exhibit.  We also saw some dinosaur bones, and we saw Sue…the most complete T.Rex ever found.

My only gripe with the whole weekend is the damn Illinois tollway.  I would much rather pay more at a single toll than have to stop every 5 seconds to pay a small toll.  It costs like $5 each way to get to chicago and back.  How is that for a “Welcome to Illinois?”

Lastly, I ordered the 2006 tickets for the hockey games on Monday.  I ordered as soon as they opened in the morning and still got 2nd level.  Thats just outragous!  Oh well…we are first row up there so the seats are still pretty decent.

Chicago Bound!

Well as I sit in front of the Middleton High school leaching off of their internet connection waiting for Mandi I thought I would post something quick.  Our 1 year anniversary is Sunday so to celebrate we decided to go to Chicago.  We are going to see the play wicked and also go to the aquarium and the Museum of Science and industry.  Should be a fun time.

Just a reminder to everyone looking for hockey tickets to get back to me.  I havent heard from anyone yet besides John and Sarah.  They are going to the Minnesota game with us.

Here is the email I sent out with the games:

Well Mandi and I chose 4 games we are going to go to this year.  If anyone wants to go with us the more the merrier!  I will be ordering tickets Monday morning when they go on sale at 8:30am.  So that means everyone has until Sunday midnight to get back to me and let me know if they want to go to any games with us (OK, really only the 2006 games go on sale…so I will be sending around another email when the tickets go on sale for the 2007 games).  Here are the games we are going to attend (Puck falls at 7pm for all the games):

Sat Oct 28 – Boston College
Fri Nov 24 – Michigan
Sat Jan 13 – Minnesota
Sat Feb 17 – St Cloud State

So if you want to go to either of the first two games I need to know by Sunday night (September 24).  The second two games dont go on sale until next month, so I will send another email around when that time comes closer.  If anyone has any questions…feel free to email me or call me!

Tickets are $22 each plus service fees so I would guess they are about $24 or $25.

Weekend update….well…kinda ;)

Mandi and I went to the Badger game on Saturday.  It was a good time.  I forgot how much I hated the stadium though with its cramped seating.  The second half of the game was great!  The first half was pretty boring though.  All in all a good time though!

I think I may actually have some time to breath now.  Work was really killing me.  Its the busiest time of the year and I had to do the technology needs for the building dedication where I was told MANY times that it had to be “perfect.”  Well nothing was said to me so I guess that means it went off without a hitch.  Its glad to be able to go back to do my two jobs once again =/  We are starting to interview for the other position finally so hopefully within the next month or two we will have someone starting to help alleviate the workload.

Mandi and I watched a couple movies this weekend, which we havent done in a long time.  We watched Syriana, Inside Man, and something else so memorable I cant remember what it was…lol.  The movies were not all that great…but it felt good to relax.

Emails are going out tonight about Badger Hockey tickets.  If you dont get one dont fret…you can just email me and let me know if you want to go.  I realize I dont have everyones email address.  I will post the games we are going to later.  Cant wait for the hockey season!

Ok back to work for me!  Lots to do ;)

A solemn day

I actually have a lot of stuff to talk about that I was going to post today, but, in observation of all the men, woman and children who lost their lives 5 years ago in the tragic events of 9/11 I thought I should honor them instead…the other stuff can wait until tomorrow.

I would like to thank every single service man and woman who is over seas fighting for our right to “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.”  Also, thank you to every vet who has fought in any war.  Without these courageous men and woman, we wouldn’t have the greatest country in the world.

I would also like to stop for a second and give a moment of silence for all the people who died 5 years ago in the horrific events of 9/11…..

…. I couldn’t ever imagine what the people in the towers had going through their heads.  It would have been a scary and trying time.  My thoughts and condolences go out to all the families who lost loved ones that day.
