Recently we began seeing a problem where applications were deployed to a machine, but they were not displaying in software center. Firing up the ConfigMgr toolkit, I saw the applications as applicable, but they weren’t being evaluated. If I created a new deployment with the exact same settings, then it would work just fine. After lots […]

I was banging my head against a wall for a bit with some new machines (Dell Optiplex 3020’s) we got in that wouldn’t PXE boot. They would start, then error out with 0xc0000001, “A required device isn’t connected or can’t be accessed”. I knew I had the right drivers installed in my pxe boot media, […]

Ran into a new error today, and took some time to figure out the solution. We had a new Dell come in with a SSD (unknown at the time that it had an SSD, nobody mentioned it to me) that was getting an error during the unattended phase of windows setup. The full error […]

Being a mostly all Dell shop, getting warranty info right from the console would be extremely helpful. Luckily, someone made a console extension to do just that! More info can be found here: http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2013/10/11/get-dell-warranty-status-within-configmgr-2012-console/

Yesterday I dove in and updated all my System Center products to 2012 R2. Overall it was fairly straightforward. One note of caution, there is an order to do the upgrades. You can find that order here: http://bit.ly/12fVork Overall it was pretty straightforward. Even though all the products fall under the “System Center” umbrella, you can […]

I recently installed SP1 to my Configuration Manager 2012 environment, and ran across a little hiccup. I couldnt start the admin console on my desktop. Turns out, if you have the scorch SCCM IP installed it will happen. Here is the KB article on how to fix it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2800707

I finally updated my winpe 3.0 boot images to be 4k aware as all our new machines have the new 512e drives in them. If you are using the 3.1 boot images, you are already set. The process was actually really painless. Here are the directions I followed: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff794819.aspx and here are the hotfixes that […]

Well this one has plagued us for a couple of weeks. Took a while to track down. Turns out that when you initially deploy this, it only downloads 2/3 packages (hence why it gets stuck at 66%). You can confirm this by finding the update (either in the update list, search folder, deployment, where ever…I […]

Ive been playing around with FEP 2010 to replace SEP eventually. The biggest issue I had was getting definitions out through SCCM since you cant auto-approve (fixed in SCCM 2012). *I should probably note it IS possible, however you have to go against the “never touch the wsus console” recommendation, so I didnt want to use […]
